OPA Midwestern Regional Exhibition

Sept. 27, 2007: Zhiwie Tu is one of nine master painters entered in the prestigious Oil Painters of America Central Regional Juried Exhibition which opens at Southwind Gallery in Topeka, Kansas on Sunday, Sept. 30. The show runs through November 30.

Intense Travel: Chinese Artist Invites Dana Gallery Owners to His Country, Where He's Wildly Famous (April 6, 2007) Gallery owner Dudley Dana tells Joe Nickell of The Missoulian about "the trip of a lifetime" when he and his wife accompanied Tu Zhiwei and six American artists on a 21-day tour of China.

Digging Through China (April 5, 2007) Skylar Browning of the Missoula Independent talks with Dudley and Candace Crosby about the U.S-China artist's trip. It was "a life changing experience," Candace says. "In addition to exploring the country to create their own work, the artists traveled to five universities where students study Zhiwei&;s techniques."

East Meets West: Dana Gallery's "6th Cup" Show

April 6-21, 2007 Exhibition of the "6th cup" work of the six artists who traveled to China with Tu Zhiwei. As explained by the Gallery:

"After three weeks of plein air painting in remote villages and bustling markets and temples, as well as visits to art schools and museums, we return home, saturated with sights and sounds. In China there&;s a tradition of making tea from a single flower blossom. The first cup is made quickly and carries the scent of the first day of spring. The sixth cup steeps and develops a complexity. The plein air work was like that first cup of tea. Home in their studios the artists created the &;sixth-cup&; paintings for this special international show at Dana Gallery."
