Preface
I have a longstanding passion for
Tibet. For more than
eight months from 2004 to 2006, I went to Tibet and covered more than
40,000 kilometers to explore and study the remote Tibetan regions of
over 6,000 meters in altitude at the foot of Mount Everest. Altogether,
I shot tens of thousands of photos trying to show the people there... .
I was finally able to discover, from thousands of pairs of eye, the
artistic language I was looking for &; the two eyes of the
Tibetans.
Seen through these eyes are innocence of the children, the longing of
the young girls, the determination of the grown-ups and the hardship of
the old. Seen through these eyes, too, is the simple and pure life that
has remained unchanged for a thousand years like a living historical
fossil. Seen through these eyes are the strength and forthrightness,
the dauntlessness and bravery of the Tibetans. Felt through these eyes
are the crystal-clear minds of the Tibetans who take life as it is.
The eyes have endless stories, boundless emotions and a colorful world.
